The highly interdisciplinary and fast evolving fields of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine attracts scientists, engineers and medical doctors who are focused on the development of alternative therapies for tissue and organ repair. The ultimate goal is the replacement or regeneration of cells, tissues or organs in order to restore normal biological function. This can be achieved through the exploitation of biomimetic substitutes with micro/nano features that integrate novel approaches using genetically engineered cells, engineered growth factors, biomaterials, scaffolds and nanotools. Moreover, it includes the subfield of theranostics which unites diagnostic and therapeutic applications leading to a contemporary personalized and precision medicine approach. In addition to medical applications, non-therapeutic applications include diagnostic screening, pharmaceutical drug testing, toxicity studies and development of engineered tissues as an alternative to the use of animals in translational and basic research. The main objective of this Workshop is to gather specialists on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, young researchers and stakeholders from relative fields in order to share the knowledge and expertise, to communicate the needs and difficulties in each discipline and to promote the exchange of ideas, synergy and creativity.

The Workshop main topics include:

  • 3D scaffolds
  • Tissue Platforms for disease modelling and drug testing
